ADVISE FOR BACKACHE PATIENTS

1. Sleep on firm mattress (good cotton or coir mattress). Soft mattress s
strictly avoided.
2. If patient is comfortable, there is no harm in sleeping on a thin cotton ma ess floor. But it is not compulsory to sleep on floor.
3. While getting up from lying down position, always turn on either side a get up.
4. Always sit straight with some support to back.
5. Avoid bending forwards.
6. Lifting of heavy objects should be avoided.
7. Exercise which involve forward bending of spine should be avoided.
8. In acute phase, avoid travelling by autorickshaw or 2 wheeler. Bus a d journey is safer.
9. Don't wear high heels. They strain the spine.
10. Don't work on anything in an awkward or stooped position.
11. Avoid twisting your back suddenly.
12. If you sit for long periods or are driving, ensure that your bac s
supported
13. While recovering from slipped disc, you should slowly and grad all es
your normal daily schedule.
